Investment Banking Associate


D.A. Davidson & Co., a leading investment banking firm with operations nationwide, is accepting applicants for a full-time Associate position in our Costa Mesa, CA office to work on a team focused on the technology industry. The Associate is expected to work on strategic assignments assisting clients with mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, private placements and other advisory services. The Associate is expected to commit such time as is necessary to effectively fulfill their responsibilities. Specific qualifications and general responsibilities of the individual are included below.


Individual filling this position should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred but not required
  • 3 years’ minimum experience working in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or equivalent required
  • High degree of comfort interacting with senior executives
  • Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Office skills a plus, specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and teamwork skills
  • Good judgment and ability to exercise discretion when handling confidential information
  • Capability to excel in both team and self-directed settings
  • High motivation, with a strong desire to excel in a challenging field
  • Knowledge of and interest in the technology industry preferred but not required
  • Possession of Series 79 (Series 7 may be applicable) and 63 licenses preferred but not required; new hires without these licenses will require successful completion upon hiring


  • Perform day-to-day functions for advancing a transaction
  • Develop business valuation and financial models
  • Create transaction and client marketing materials
  • Support senior bankers in business development and the sourcing and execution of transactions
  • Attend tradeshows and industry events as needed
  • Interact with clients and potential clients on transactional and technical issues
  • Manage internal deal teams as it pertains to work flow and work product
  • Work with the investment banking analysts, including training and oversight of the work product
