At D.A. Davidson, giving is a year-round effort

April 29, 2016

Giving, community service, volunteerism―these aren’t one-and-done events at the Kalispell office of D.A. Davidson. They happen every month of the year. The way branch manager Chris Barone and his team see it, giving isn’t a matter of convenience; there’s always a cause that needs support. “We were brainstorming one day and we decided to focus on something different every month.” And so was born, 12 Months of Giving; the beneficiaries of which include the Kalispell Humane Society, Breast Cancer Awareness, The Giving Closet, Save a Sister, and many other local non-profit charities and events. In addition to hundreds of volunteer hours, the D.A. Davidson Kalispell staff also worked to procure items from major retailers for charity auctions or for stocking the shelves of various donation centers, and chipped in thousands of their own dollars. “Much of the funds we raised came directly out of the pockets of employees in the office,” said Chris. “This year we raised in the neighborhood of $12,000.”

That’s no small contribution, and Chris couldn’t be more impressed with his company and the people he works with. “First, it speaks to the D.A. Davidson culture,” said Chris. “Secondly, I’ve worked in a lot of offices over the years, I have never worked with such a group of people that were as generous and had bigger hearts than in this office. They’re just incredible people. It wasn’t a hard thing to do.”
