French company Danone has announced plans to acquire Denver-based WhiteWve Foods, a leading organic food maker - a move to capitalize on the fast-growing organic market in the United States.
The purchase allows Danone, which is the world's largest yogurt maker, to enter the organic segment with a company that is known for its healthy products and that has found niches in various parts of the grocery store, said Eric Gottlieb, analyst with D.A. Davidson & Co.
Gottlieb spoke recently in an interview with Marketpace, where he commented on the value of the planned acquisition.
