Cindy Dockstader of Denver and Rex Thornton of Salt Lake City have been named the recipients of the Ian B. Davidson Cultural Excellence Award, one of the most prestigious awards given to employees of D.A. Davidson Companies.
The Ian B. Davidson Cultural Excellence Award recognizes D.A. Davidson employees who are committed to exemplifying the firm’s core values, which include service excellence, business ethics and integrity, and community involvement. The award is named for Ian Davidson, Chairman Emeritus of D.A. Davidson Companies, who developed and nurtured the company’s core values as a company leader for a number of years.
Dockstader is Vice President and Manager, Public Finance Administration in Denver. Her peers cite Dockstader’s strong leadership, with a focus on professionalism, unwavering ethics and a willingness to take on added duties. She is credited with effectively supporting, advocating for and recognizing her employees. Her recent work has included the oversight of two major projects, including the introduction and development of detailed training for public finance staff, and a change to important new software. Dockstader is handled both projects skillfully and without complaint, her nominators said.
Thornton is Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor and Assistant Branch Manager in Salt Lake City. A longtime D.A. Davidson employee, he is recognized as an exceptional leader and team player both in the office and in the community. He has dedicated countless hours to supporting youth sports, nonprofit groups, the University of Utah and his church while also previously serving as the firm’s Salt Lake City Branch Manager. Among other work, he has served on the Utah High School Athletic Association Foundation Committee and volunteered as a sports referee, for the University of Utah Alumni Association and for the Olympics.
Both Dockstader and Thornton received the peer-driven awards during the company’s recent annual shareholders’ meeting.
