When it comes to helping causes they care about, D.A. Davidson associates are not afraid to rise to the occasion. In both Los Angeles and Seattle, a number of employees have climbed over 1,300 steps at a time to raise money for important programs.
D.A. Davidson annually sponsors the Stair Climb for Los Angeles and has fielded stair-climbing teams since 2015 to support the Ketchum-Downtown YMCA. Climbers navigate 1,664 steps to race (or walk) up 75 stories of the US Bank Tower, home to the tallest stairwell west of the Mississippi. The fundraiser aids Y community programs in some of the least-resourced areas of the city.
In Seattle, the Big Climb supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s blood cancer research and support services for patients and their families. Participants tackle 1,331 steps, or 69 floors, of the Columbia Center, Seattle’s tallest building. An event sponsor, D.A. Davidson also fields an employee team each year.
Jamie Wieferich, Chief Operating Officer for our Wealth Management group, has participated in both cities and organized the firm’s first Los Angeles climb in 2015. She enjoys the fitness and team building as well as the more meaningful aspects of the events.
“It’s gratifying to train and encourage each other while also supporting a great cause,” Jamie said.
Keep up the good work!
