Better Together

November 15, 2018

In Big Bear Lake, California, community projects organized by different leaders have dovetailed into a collaborative holiday tradition with far-reaching benefits. Regional Supervisory Manager Melissa DeHaan is a leader for Cub Scout Pack 49, whose service projects include providing Thanksgiving meals for families affected by domestic violence. To make the undertaking a learning opportunity, Melissa instructs the Scouts to create budgets, go shopping and then deliver grocery-filled baskets to DOVES, or Domestic Violence Education & Services. Other D.A. Davidson representatives, Branch Manager Michael Natzic and his wife, Nicole, are certified domestic violence counselors and longtime volunteers and board members for DOVES. Because all three demonstrate a strong commitment to the nonprofit organization, D.A. Davidson adds financial support.

We are proud of our Big Bear team’s shared passion and collaboration. The result? A win-win for domestic violence survivors and Cub Scouts — strengthening the Big Bear community.
